    What it does

    Document Analyzer helps you interrogate a single manuscript without relying on lossy skimming. Upload a file, ask a focused question, or run Summarize / Translate — then review the answer in the results panel against the original document.

    • Empirical detail scope: isolate sample descriptions, study populations, and stated constraints from the text you uploaded.
    • Methodological dissection: surface declared methods, models, and analysis choices when authors report them.
    • Question answering: ask about a section, argument, variable, or finding and get a grounded reply to review.
    • Summarize & translate: produce a condensed reading or translation for drafting support — not a substitute for reading the source.

    When to use

    Use Document Analyzer when you need structured reading support on one file before citing, synthesizing, or drafting.

    Literature screening

    Ask targeted inclusion questions against a candidate PDF before you invest in a full close read.

    Methods extraction

    Pull declared sample sizes, instruments, and analysis choices into notes you can verify line-by-line.

    Draft support

    Summarize a section you already understand so you can outline related writing faster.

    Cross-language reading

    Translate passages for comprehension — then confirm critical claims in the original language.

    Before you start

    Clean inputs produce more reliable analyses. Confirm the following before you run Document Analyzer:

      Open Document Analyzer

      From Research tools, Workspace, or Tools → Document Analyzer.

      Mount your manuscript

      Upload or drop the file in the document area (PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, or RTF).

      Choose an analysis mode

      Ask a question, select Summarize, or select Translate (pick a target language when translating).

      Run and review

      Select Analyze, wait for progress stages to finish, then verify the results panel against the source before copying, downloading, or saving.

    Output & available formats

    Exports and copy actions depend on what the results panel offers for a given run. Typical options include:

    PDF, DOCX, TXT, Markdown, and RTF — keep files under 50MB.

    Question answering, Summarize, and Translate with the languages listed in the tool.

    Tips

    • Ask focused questions about sections, arguments, or methods.
    • Split very long documents into logical sections for clearer analysis.

    Limitations & boundary controls

    Document Analyzer is an assistive reading instrument. Treat every output as provisional until you verify it in the source.

    Source verification required: Answers can miss nuance in long or poorly OCR’d scans. Always check claims against the original file.
    Not a citation authority: Do not cite analyzer output as a primary source. Cite the manuscript itself after you confirm page-level evidence.
    Institutional requirements still apply: Outputs do not replace your own reading, ethics review, or assignment rules.

    Common problems

    • Unsupported format — convert .doc to .docx, or export to PDF/TXT.
    • File too large — keep under 50MB, or split the PDF.
    • Weak answers — ask a more specific question about a section, argument, or method.
